      Compared to our old standard, the advanced standard does the following:

      Move away from an hour-based model based strictly on educational categories by adopting an "hour + ability" model centered on a common core curriculum consisting of four educational categories, 12 competencies and many sub-competencies;

      The minimum required 100% time is class time that is directly related to the core curriculum and learning objectives. ;

      Allows up to 40 hours of online instruction (shared between Anatomy & Physiology and Yoga humanities). For more information, see RYS 2021 Online Teaching Exemption.

      Requiring RYS to assess the knowledge, skills and experience of trainees before certifying them as 200-hour teachers (many Legacy RYS currently use this as "best practice"); and

      Increased requirements for RYS 200 lead trainers.
